Lab 4 Online Help

Overview

In this lab you will practice finding help for various commands and topics. All commands in this lab are to be run using your normal user account only, without the use of sudo or su.

Command help

For each of these tasks, look up the necessary command line options to perform the task specified. Useful resources include man pages, the info docs, and other online documentation as covered in the course materials.

• What option(s) would you use with the ls command to show last access time for the files in your home directory?
• List the manual pages found when doing a command line keyword search for regex with the man command.
• What does the regex topic man page say about using \ at the end of a regular expression?
• What Linux command shows you documentation on how to use the cd command?
• What command will show the help documents for the grub boot loader?
• What URL would provide a copy of the Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 System Administrator’s Guide?

Submission of Results

Capture screenshots of the terminal window showing your prompt, commands, and as much of the output for each command as fits in the window with your command still showing. Submit a single PDF file to blackboard containing your screenshots in the order they were performed, along wityh your responses to the questios asked in the lab.
